Michal Škapa recently won the first CTP Art Wall competition — which CTP organized together with Drawetc., renowned Czech artist collective — with his entry for CTPark Prague Airport. His ‘Mandala’ concept was chosen out of more than 40 other entries for the 350 m wall, and will be realised in Spring 2018.

Michal is an integral part of the Prague street- and broader art scene. He is not only an artist but also graphic designer for books, catalogues and posters. He works in many different media and formats, from paintings in the form of murals, abstract acrylic tags and figurative airbrush compositions, to site-specific installations and spatial objects.

For ten years his base-camp-studio has been at Meetfactory, with which he has been closely linked since its foundation. In 2015 he designed the book on the Trafačka art group, of which he is an important member. He is the co-founder of the AnalogBros screen printing workshop and a close associate of the BiggBoss label. Škapa represented the Czech republic at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, and has exhibited many prestigious galleries at home, such as the Prague City Gallery, Mánes Gallery, DOX, Trafačka, Gask in Kutná Hora, & GAVU. His first large solo show was called 00 nothing and took place in the legendary Trafačka. He followed this with his Graffoman exhibition at The Chemistry Gallery in 2014, which focused on letterforms and his bespoke alphabet.

For the exhibition he created a limited-edition experimental hand-bound book printed on risograph. In the past two years he worked and exhibited, together with his colleague Xdog, displaying cooperative paintings and sculptures. He continues doing solo shows as well as group exhibitions. Analfabet is a larger project held at the new Trafo Gallery and presents the author’s recent work, presenting letterforms in different media such as canvases, objects, interactive works, and light instalations.
